One of our partners, Thales, is looking for a Technical Author with IT/Mechanical/Electrical background to join the Customer Documentation team within the Supportability Engineering Department.
What will you do as a Senior Technical Author?
The Customer Documentation Team is responsible for all customer-oriented technical documentation related to our Radar Systems and Command & Control Systems, which are mainly used in the maritime domain. The current team consists of 15 Technical Authors.
As a Technical Author, you develop the technical user documentation for our high-tech products. You collect the technical information, research technical specifications, use the knowledge of specialists from throughout the organization and test the procedures on the actual systems. You write and maintain clear text for the Operator, Maintenance and System Manuals.
Who are we looking for?
• You have a bachelor’s or master’s within the Mechanical / Electrical / IT domain.
• You have a technical background and/or affinity with technology.
• You have at least 3-5 years of experience as a Technical Author or a similar position.
• You have good communication skills, both oral and written.
• You have excellent knowledge of the English language, both verbally and in writing.
• You have the ability to write accurate, consistent, clear and concise English.
• Knowledge / experience in the field of STE (Simplified Technical English) is a plus.
• Knowledge and experience in S1000D V3.0 and V4.1 Data Modules (DMs) is a plus.
• You are able to translate difficult concepts into easily understandable information for our end users.
• You are able to lead documentation projects from start to finish.
• You are able to work independently, take initiatives, but also like to work in a team.
• Knowledge of structured data documentation, (XML) and knowledge/experience of CSDB/CMS.
• You are flexible and open to technological changes within your field.
Additionally:
• You should be able to work and think in a structured way with strong analytical skills.
• You should be stress resistant and proactive;
• You are good at organizing and planning and can maintain a helicopter view.
• You would like to live/work in East part of The Netherlands for a high-tech company.

The department consists of the following disciplines: Logistics Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Customer Documentation, Customer Training, Obsolescence Management.
