For our client, Saab (located in Göteborg, Sweden), we are looking for a System Engineer with a few years of experience as a system engineer and strong knowledge of the networking domain.

At Saab ATM, we develop advanced systems that keep air traffic safe 24/7. To strengthen our international team, we are looking for a System Engineer – Air Traffic Management (ATM) with a passion for technology, safety, and innovation.
Your role as a System Engineer
As a System Engineer, you will work on the development, integration, testing, and optimization of systems that are crucial to Air Traffic Management (ATM). This includes radar, communication, navigation, and surveillance solutions. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams such as software developers, product managers, network engineers, cybersecurity experts, and subcontractors (both in Göteborg and abroad). You will also liaise with clients such as air traffic controllers, technical specialists, and external suppliers.
Depending on your experience, you will start at level A or B – with growth opportunities towards technical or leadership positions.
What will you do?
Development and Design
• Design hardware and software solutions for radar systems, flight data processing, and communication networks.
• Develop system architectures in accordance with international standards (ICAO, EASA, EUROCONTROL).
Integration and Testing
• Integrate ATM components and carry out system validation (FAT/SAT).
• Work with test environments, simulations, and real-world operational scenarios.
Maintenance and Optimization
• Monitor performance of critical 24/7 systems.
• Implement improvements focused on safety, efficiency, and capacity.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
• Analyze customer needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Work closely with software engineers, network and security specialists, project managers, and clients.
Compliance and Documentation
• Prepare technical documentation, test plans, and user manuals.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards.
What do you bring?
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace, Computer Science or a related field;
• Knowledge of radar, ADS-B, GPS, MLAT, and ATM communication protocols;
• Experience with Bash, Python, C++, Java, MATLAB, Simulink, and Linux environments;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Excellent communication skills in English;
• Familiarity with tools such as Jira, AutoCAD, and MS Office;
• Certifications such as CSEP, ATSEP, or in cybersecurity are a plus;
• Experience with agile/lean work environments is a plus;
• Willingness to travel (nationally/internationally) approximately 25% of the time.
