For our client, Thales, we are urgently looking for a

Team Manager of Software Engineering.

Job location: Hengelo, Overijssel.

Working hours: 32 - 40 hours/weekly (minimum 3-4 days weekly needs to be working from the Hengelo office).

One of the responsibilities of the Software Engineering department within our Naval Engineering unit is the development of Combat & Information Management Systems for Navy vessels and their integration with sensor and weapons systems. These complex systems incorporate advanced solutions in the fields of information processing, information management, user interaction, and sensor and weapons control. As such, our software offers essential support for missions ranging from combating piracy to defense against long-range missiles.

 

For its Naval Applications Engineering department, Thales (Hengelo) is looking for a talented Team Manager Software Engineering with a passion for software development and the ambition to advance his or her career within a high-tech environment in a management role.

 

About the team

As Team Manager Software Engineering you manage a team responsible for the software development in one of our safety-critical real-time product segments. A team consists typically of 25 - 35 (junior, medior and senior) software engineers (and other relevant software development roles) and works according to the agile/scrum/SAFe methodologies.

The challenge for the coming period is to grow the team maturity in domain knowledge and to develop competences, with focus on operational performance of teams and people. You are responsible for the individual performance of your team members, to enable the team to meet project objectives in relation to customer value, quality, time and budget.

 

You will be part of the Management Team of the Segment and the Software Engineering Discipline. Our management culture is based on trust, transparency and excellence. Together with the other team managers you are responsible for the overall department results. You contribute to and play an important part in setting up and executing our strategic plans and initiating process improvements.

  • Is analytically and verbally able to communicate with and balance the interests of various stakeholders in the organization.
  • Has a BSc or MSc degree.
  • Communicates efficiently in Dutch and English, both verbally and written.
