Department:

The Engineering Appliance Electronics (EAE) department is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer. The department is responsible for developing and maintaining both control units for boilers and heat pumps and connectivity products such as the Easy Control smart room thermostat.
  
Within the department the groups Hardware, Software, Embedded Software and Mobile App Development can be distinguished. The Embedded Software group is responsible for firmware development for the EAE products, especially the Appliance Control Units (ACUs) and is closely involved in production of these products. The department strives for on time delivery in an Agile working environment, working in scrum teams in a SAFe environment. 

The function:

As a Firmware Engineer, you are involved in the entire software development process from the establishment of prerequisites to the maintenance of the developed software. You are the owner of your design throughout the entire cycle. When necessary you provide support to project team members and others who work with your software and to the users who integrate the control units into their product. 

Your main tasks consist of:

  • Further develop requirements;
  • Design, develop and test the firmware; 
  • (Technical) documentation of the software, especially for Safety related components; 
  • Proper use of tooling like JIRA, Jenkins, Artifactory and so on; 
  • Verifying the PCB in integration and validation tests; 
  • Providing support during testing and in resolving issues; 
  • Identify and implement process and/or product improvements. 

We are looking for:

  • Experience in software design;
  • Experience in software development with C/C++ or similar languages;
  • Familiar with configuration management and use of software development tool chains and debugging environments;
  • Able to write product software specifications and internal technical documentation 
  • Proactive attitude
  • Accuracy and pragmatism
  • A completed HBO / WO education towards Embedded software or equivalent; 
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with Embedded software development 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; 
  • Familiar with Agile working (Scrum/Kanban); 
  • Independent, accurate, entrepreneurial and quality conscious.
