Manager – Feeding Systems

Foseco is the global leader in feeding system products because our products have the highest thermal and feed performance available. And, because Foseco’s feeding aids are carefully made in reliable processes, feed performance is particularly consistent. The application of Foseco feeding solutions avoid shrinkage defects and improve casting yields, reducing the amount of non-productive metal poured. Significant savings can also be made in fettling and cleaning operations.

The position will reinforce the Feeding Systems R&D team following the changes in the R&D organization structure. With a good understanding of the Feeding Systems product lines, as a manger you are the bridge between the scientists and the customers. You are a seasoned manager who is a guide and leader empowering the team members in their roles. You help the team to maximise their performance and contribution. You are result-oriented, have the key technical knowledge, skill-set and proven people management skills to achieve goals collectively. As a manager you embody fairness, emotional resilience, adaptability, and a positive attitude. You identify areas for improvement and make suggestions to achieve this. In addition, you ensure that the team has the resources and support to be successful in their task.


  •  Ensure that project deadlines are met and that it falls within the budget.

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with external and internal personnel in verbal and written form.

  • Serve as a contact person for various customers and suppliers.

  • Communicate and work effectively with various departments within the company (scientists, technicians, marketing, sales etc.)

  • Develop a fundamental understanding of current quality and performance testing for feeding systems products and raw materials. Seek to develop more meaningful, robust quantitative tests to provide greater insight into product performance.

  • Identify and assess technologies, materials and processes from non-related industries, of potential application to the feeding systems area.

Who are we looking for?

  • A candidate with a first degree in Chemistry / Materials Science or other relevant discipline. Postgraduate degree (MSc. Minimum, preferred PhD) in a relevant materials-based subject.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a manager in an R&D environment. High level of understanding of fundamental inorganic chemistry, materials science, or high temperature ceramics.
  • A true people manager with high level skill set in change management, strategic thinking, executive leadership, project portfolio management.
  • Preferably knowledge of refractory engineering / ceramics technology.
  • Experience in work processes evaluation for efficiency and operational flow,
  • Ability to work well with several departments and coordinate well with others in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience of delivering R&D objectives against deadlines and cost budgets. Ability to work as a member of the larger European and international R&D team.
  • Sound practical laboratory skills, with a broad understanding of laboratory testing equipment and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English (written and spoken), good written and spoken German or Dutch is a considerable benefit.
  • Understanding of basic of statistical techniques, computer literate, with basic programming skills and a working knowledge of higher-level mathematics would be advantageous.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
