Vesuvius’ Advanced Refractories business supplies the steel industry and other process industries with high performance refractory materials used for lining vessels such as blast furnaces, ladles and tundishes to enable them to withstand high temperatures and/or corrosive attack.

Your role:

At Vesuvius, customers are at the focal point of everything we do. As a Sales Support Engineer your role will be pivotal in ensuring exceptional service to our customers, as well as providing vital support to the local field sales team and our Shared Service Center. You will engage in extensive communication, both verbal and written, with external customers and colleagues across the organization. Your proactive approach will help maintain and enhance communication with customers and the Shared Service Center, ensuring responsiveness to their needs and a keen understanding of their priorities.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to independently execute trial projects with customers and provide technical support to product and sales managers. You hold technical responsibility for company equipment, field trials, customer support, and collaborate with sales management to drive customer-related revenue and margin growth.

Key responsibilities:

  • Initiate and develop strong customer relationships and act as a customer advocate within Vesuvius to ensure the delivery of an exceptional customer experience.
  • Implementing trial programs both internally and externally,
  • Organizing and overseeing trials at customer sites, including on-site support and reporting,
  • Creating detailed trial protocols,
  • Conducting regular customer visits, offering technical services and support to customers,
  • Monitoring installation for customer projects,
  • Aligning with corporate objectives and disseminating company philosophy,
  • Assisting sales management in accordance with product management guidance,
  • Handling customer complaints and streamlining work processes,
  • Maintaining and repairing company machinery used by customers,
  • Identifying and documenting business potentials at customer sites,
  • Managing customer-side inventories to optimize working capital impact,
  • Acting as a substitute for the Account Manager in their absence, in collaboration with the Sales Manager

Reporting to: Account Manager AR I&S, Netherlands

Who are we looking for :

  • Completed education and/or professional training in a refractory, steel industry or technical knowledge (mechanical)
  • An independent and highly reliable person who demonstrates a proactive approach and a strong sense of initiative, coupled with a positive and adaptable attitude.
  • Proficiency in PC application software
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings
  • Knowledge and understanding of CAD
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Assertiveness and strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English
  • Previous experience working in a technical or engineering role related to refractory materials, metallurgy, or steel production can provide valuable insights and credibility when interacting with customers.
